There's been a big refresh on flu.gov and every suffering one of you is advised to check it out. A couple days ago I looked at it and it seemed less informative than it had been weeks ago. Today the Department of Health and Human Services announced there was much new information, and I think it's true.
A new item I tried was a self-evaluation test for adults. I tried to remember my symptoms a week ago and plugged them in. It confirmed my suspicion that if I'd felt a little worse when I woke up in the middle of that night, I should have gone to the ER. Fortunately, shortness of breath passed quickly once I was awake, and that was about the worst I felt.

This is what I call health care. Thank you, Hampton Inn
This is a bittersweet story about taking care of people in a death watch. Thanks to the St. Petersburg Times for working up this touching story of kindness amid tragedy. It seems to have started with a clerk at Hampton Inn reading news online. Speaks well for us toiling in this virtual environment.

Musical treat, and stop the flu!
From the grassroots: this is the winner in a national contest for a video to be a public service ad and stop the H1N1 flu:
Thank you, Dr. Clark.
Now, let me describe my symptoms.

Thank you, Dr. Clark.
Now, let me describe my symptoms.
- Started with very scratchy throat a week ago.
- A day later, some coughing that started dry but would get damp after a few wheezes.
- Lethargy that continues now in the 8th day. Must sleep 10 hours minimum. Still a little coughing.
- Very little fever.
- I'm speculating that I had/have a light case thanks to my age (68) and likely immunity from having had H1N1 back on its epidemic run in the '70s.
