- What's going on with the Democrats in Washington? We gave them Congress, why aren't they ending the war? Not enough votes, and some are afraid to appear to leave the troops in the lurch.
- Why aren't there giant demonstrations a la Vietnam? It's not only the lack of the draft, there's also a fear that civil society might break down. (I would add that we don't have the assault weapons.)
- What is Americans Against Escalation in Iraq? A coalition spearheaded by MoveOn but with many other groups.
- They all specialize in online movements and television ads and polls -- another reason for fewer big demos.

Presidential Candidate Dennis Kucinich said in his interview on the Ed Schultz Show recently that the responsibility lies with Congress to end this unjust, illegal war in Iraq.
Bush has turned over his responsbility to the Military and Congress passes the buck onto to Bush. Congress does not need to vote on this. They don't need a bill on this. All they have to do is tell Bush with the money that is already available it must be used to end the war, and bring the troops and equipment home. It is not the military's call, it's not Bush's call, and it's not a lobbyiest groups call. It is Congress that has the power to end this Iraq debacle. The Dems in Congress are pussy footing around with bills, letters, mandates, and amendments - none of which will get the job done. Dennis has come forth on several occasions stating that Congress must do the right thing and tell Bush that this war must end. To answer the New York Times question: Can Lobbyists stop the war? Ask Dennis Kucinich next time and save yourself from wasting space in your newspaper.
